A geek’s wet dream

I was surfing the Internet last week when I came across this interesting tidbit of information. It would seem the folks over at Engadget have gotten their mitts on the new Treo, which was just announced this morning as the “Treo smartphone on Windows Mobile” by Microsoft, Palm and Verizon.
Though many would think an upgrade like this wouldn’t be a big deal, my fellow gadgets geeks will be quick to defend. The new Treo is really a milestone for Palm, introducing it’s partnership with Microsoft by offering WinMo 5.0 instead of the Palm operating system.
So besides WinMo 5.0, what else is different about Treo’s new smartphone? For one, it now offers vertical and horizontal orientation. The camera has been bumped up to one megapixal (as opposed to .5), the memory is up to 64 MB (the the ability to use memory cards for more storage), Bluetooth and EV-DO, which is essentially wireless Internet.
Is the new Treo better than the 650? I think so. Is it worth paying full price to upgrade? Not really. Unless you must have the latest and greatest. Or someone else will buy it for you.
