Homecoming from tonight

Posted by Gypsy on Dec 30, 2005

Ok, everyone. I had to shoot a homecoming tonight and the photos were so amazing I had to post them to my Flickr account. Please go check them out and remember you can leave comments on them.

So, without further adieu, my photos.

And people make fun of me…

… for being scared to fly.

Due to this incident, I will never fly Alaska Airlines. It shows just a little too much carelessness for my taste.

Although I will say, I try to fly with Air Tran whenever I can. Even though it’s not always the cheapest way to go, they have new planes and a great safety record. And offer cheap upgrades.

As you can see, it’s a slow day for me. I have the day off, although I do have to shoot a homecoming tonight. Should be fun and I’ll probably get some great photos from it.

Ready for the weekend

This week has been the most boring week ever at work. I had to work Tuesday, Wednesday and today and I haven’t done jack shit the entire time. There just isn’t anything to do and no one even notices I’m here. Tuesday I finally got fed up and left at 3, yesterday I left at noon and today it looks like I’ll leave around the same time.

On top of it, I was supposed to have tomorrow off, but there is another homecoming and I have to cover it. No big deal, except that they’ve known all week this was going to happen and wait until today to tell me. Of course, that’s the only thing the few people who are working this week have even said to me all week. And on top of it, they don’t even have information on what time they are coming in. So now I have to sit by the phone and just wait for a phone call. I can’t make plans or anything.

I’m really just ready to be done with the Army. Mentally, I already am, but I still have to go through the motions for a couple more years. I was going to make a New Year’s resolution to just accept that I’m stuck for a bit longer and tough it out without being so bitter, but I’m just not capable of that at the moment. At this point, my whole office and everyone I work with could be swallowed up in an earthquake and I woudn’t care.

I think it’s funny when I hear people say the bullshit we put up with in the Army isn’t nearly as bad as the civilian sector. I completely beg to differ, since in the civilian sector, at least I’d always have the option of quitting if the bullshit became too much to handle. I can’t do that hear, though I would really love to.

Sorry, everyone. I’m having a bitter day. I’ll try and cheer up before my next post.

Pink

A few months ago, if someone had told me I was going to have a great Christmas I would’ve said “yeah, right” and then moved on. But I have to admit that my Christmas was great. I went to see Jeremy’s aunt and uncle in Modesto. I’d never met these people, heck, Jeremy hadn’t even seen them since he was little, but they welcomed me right into their family and treated me like one of their own. It was truly wonderful. And I ate so much food I still feel full two days later.

It also seems Christmas had a theme this year, at least in regards to gifts from my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and aunt (who happens to be my MIL’s sister). That theme was pink. From Molly (my SIL) I got a pink cutting board and a pink utinsil holder; from my aunt I got a pink Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook (it’s the breast cancer awareness edition) and from my MIL I got a pink zippered hoodie, pink socks and a pink turtleneck. And of course, because she spoils me to no end, my MIL also got me…..

A PINK KITCHENAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love pink. :) Although it does feel like they are telling me I need to learn how to cook.

Along with all those gifts, I got a really soft fleece blanker with the Army seal, a cute brown top, a cute red tank top, a Walmart gift card, a glass bear, some bracelets, a beautiful velvet covered journal and a few other little things from my parents and sister. My MIL and father-in-law also got me an eagle, globe and anchor charm for my charm bracelet. That’s all I can remember right now. I got home so late last night that everything is still in the basket I brought it home in. And it’ll all probably stay there until Friday when I finally have time to look at it all and put it away.

All in all, it was a great Christmas. :) Everyone feel free to post what you got for Christmas in the comments.
