6 months and counting

About 10 days ago, Jeremy recieved his final divorce papers. As I wrote about here, I’ve already signed my final divorce papers. The last month and a half have just been a waiting game. Waiting for the papers to be filed with the court, waiting for them to be sent to Jeremy and finally waiting for him to sign them and send them back.
Well, all that waiting is finally over. He emailed me yesterday to inform me the papers haveg been signed and returned to the court. At this point, our jobs are done. From here, sometime in the next few months, we’ll each receive a copy of the divorce decree and the judge will give us the date the divorce is final.
Now is when the real waiting starts, but now there is an actual tangible goal to look forward to. Sometime soon I’ll have an actual date I can circle on the calendar. At the moment, I am sure that date will be in January, which is perfect. What better way to celebrate the new year than legally single and finally completely finished with my biggest mistake in life so far.
Unfortunately, there is still one more matter tying me to my soon-to-be-ex-husband. He still hasn’t removed my name from the lease to our old apartment. I spoke with the building manager, but she said that while she can put an addendum to the lease saying I no longer live there, he has to come sign a new lease to completely remove my name. Hopefully he takes care of it soon as I have enough credit problems without himi doing something stupid to ruin it further.
Text overload - an update

Well, it would seem Verizon has decided that I should not have the priviledge of making phone calls until I’ve paid off my bill. Oddly enough, I can receive calls and send and receive text messages. Kinda backwards since it’s text messaging that got me in this predicament in the first place. So yeah, if I don’t call you, that would be why.
Update #2: Ok, now I can’t even get calls or text messages. Though I was just able to send one. I don’t know what the fuck is going on but I’m calling them tonight to see what can be done to at least turn my service back on. Grrrrrr.
Update #3: Cori brought up a good point. The overdue balance is only $71. The rest is from the bill I got less than a week ago. Verizon sucks sometimes.
An open letter to the boys who are crushing on me:

Dear boys who are crushing on me,
I’m flattered, really I am. I’m lucky enough that most of you are people I consider good friends. And since I like you enough to want to be friends with you, I’m extra flattered that you are interested in me in a more than friends way.
Now, I realize some of you are just trying to get in my panties. And while many girls would consider that very flattering, I’ve learned that most men will fuck anything, so some of that magic has been lost.
For those of you wanting something more than friendship, that I definitely find flattering. Especially from the ones who know some of my more extreme faults (of which there are many). But the reality is that I’ve just come out of a three year commitment and am just not ready for another one. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about hanging out and having fun, but at this point in my life I don’t want a boyfriend. I can’t be tied down when I’ve just started to taste the joys of freedom.
So, boys who are crushing on me, be patient but don’t wait for me. I don’t know when I’ll be ready for another relationship, but I’m not right now. And while you may not think so, I know I’m probably not worth waiting for.
Love,
Me

I’m all about the text messaging. Right now, I have 27 text threads going on (I have a Treo 650, which puts text messages into threads similar to AIM). Granted, I don’t text in all of those everyday, but those are the people I most frequently text massage. Unfortunately, while Verizon has amazing coverage, they have shit for text messaging plans. Even so, it came as a bit of a surprise yesterday when I got my phone bill and had over $400 in text messaging charges.
What’s funny is that I have one of the smallest family plans Verizon offers (my mom is on my plan), and I still never go through all those minutes.
So here is the deal. I’m going to limit all texting with non-Verizon customers. I only have 2,500 messages a month to non-Verizon peeps (unlimited to Verizon customers). I used more than 6,000 last month. So if you don’t have Verizon and have something to talk about, please just call me. I hate talking on the phone, but I’m going to have to bite the bullet on this one. I just can’t afford another phone bill like this one. I don’t even know how I’m going to pay this one.
