6 months and counting

About 10 days ago, Jeremy recieved his final divorce papers. As I wrote about here, I’ve already signed my final divorce papers. The last month and a half have just been a waiting game. Waiting for the papers to be filed with the court, waiting for them to be sent to Jeremy and finally waiting for him to sign them and send them back.
Well, all that waiting is finally over. He emailed me yesterday to inform me the papers haveg been signed and returned to the court. At this point, our jobs are done. From here, sometime in the next few months, we’ll each receive a copy of the divorce decree and the judge will give us the date the divorce is final.
Now is when the real waiting starts, but now there is an actual tangible goal to look forward to. Sometime soon I’ll have an actual date I can circle on the calendar. At the moment, I am sure that date will be in January, which is perfect. What better way to celebrate the new year than legally single and finally completely finished with my biggest mistake in life so far.
Unfortunately, there is still one more matter tying me to my soon-to-be-ex-husband. He still hasn’t removed my name from the lease to our old apartment. I spoke with the building manager, but she said that while she can put an addendum to the lease saying I no longer live there, he has to come sign a new lease to completely remove my name. Hopefully he takes care of it soon as I have enough credit problems without himi doing something stupid to ruin it further.

Cheers to new beginnings! *Clink* :)
Yeah! Wheels are set in motion. “Ain’t no stoppin’ you now!”
As far as the apartment goes, I think (or at least I hope) that he is bright enough to know that if he defaults on the lease agreement, he’s really screwing himself over if he ever wants to rent from someone again in the future.
OMG….. congratulations on your almost final
divorce!!!
I don’t know you, so it might see weird. BUT I just recently got my finalized divorce date last month. Woohoo!! After being separated for two years, it was a welcome bit of closure. Of course, I regret getting married, but I am glad for the experience. Now I don’t need to experience it again! haha….. I wish you the best of luck (as one stranger to another)!
If you can get him to get him to take your name off the lease, try. It’s worth it. :)
