Second opinion

I went to see an orthopaedic surgeon today about my hip. He wasn’t much help. Essentially, he said that sometimes back pain is something we have to learn to live with and since there is no nerve damage (yet) there is nothing he can do for me except recommend a permanant profile that would keep me from doing sit-ups and running. Which really sucks as I love to run.

Why can’t they just medically chapter me from the Army and let me get on with my life. At least then I can find a real doctor who can actually help me instead of just giving me Motrin. I just don’t think there is anything normal about being in pain 24/7. It’s just not right and they should be concerned with fixing me, not handing me a profile and some drugs.

Sorry for the lack of posting…

…but things have been out of control lately.

First off, school started this week. I thought I was going to have an easy quarter since I opted to take some of my core classes rather than business classes. So I’m taking Music Appreciation and Introduction to Philosophy. Well I knew the sememster wouldn’t be easy the moment I got my 50-page syllabus from my philosophy teacher. So every night this week I’ve been attached to my computer and school books trying to get through everything.

Secondly, I’ve learned I’m woefully uneducated when it comes to movies. In that vein, one of my friends on the View Askew Message Board started a thread to eduate me on movies. 10 pages of posts later, there are well over 300 movies on my Netflix list, more than 250 of those thanks to everyone on the board. I’m trying to watch a new movie every night, which has gotten easier thanks to getting rid of my cable TV. But it’s still quite the daunting task.

On top of that, Fort Irwin is in the middle of rotation, so I’ve been out in the field most days dealing with media. And while I love to take media out into the desert, the sun and the heat make me extremely tired and often give me migraines. So by the time I get home, all I’m good for is taking a shower and laying on the couch.

When you add in taking time to spend with Andy, I haven’t had a bit of spare time to write. But I will make a conscious effort to write more. Just bear with me for another week or two. <3

I’m so gonna piss someone off, but this is fucking funny…

A friend alerted me to the “about me” section on the myspace page of someone we know. We’ll call this myspacer Jane. Her “about me” section says, and I quote:

“I hate people who cheat on their man or women and get all jealous when the other person moved on and out of their no good ….none existences of a life. Get over your selves bitches….WHY should the other person be worried about your feelings, when you were the one that fucked up!!!! You weren’t worry about your partner’s feelings when you were doing that shit. You people deserve everything you get….and more you shouldn’t get any mercy…SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND FUCK OFF ”

While Jane may say “man or woman,” she is specifically talking about her boyfriend, John’s, ex, who did cheat on him. Not to defend John’s ex, but he cheated on her as well. These two had some trust issues and the end of their relationship was predicted by everyone who knew them.

But here is the punchline, the reason why I’ve been laughing over this all fucking week. What Jane doesn’t realize, but I have on good authority from one of John’s best friends, is that when John went home to visit his family awhile back, he cheated on her. And is no doubt doing it now that he’s visiting them again.

Now, I don’t agree with the phrase “once a cheater, always a cheater.” I think people can change. But considering John was still fucking his ex when he started dating Jane, which Jane says he denied; that he was with his ex most of his adult life and that he has no intention of staying with Jane after he moves in the fall, it’s pretty dumb of Jane to think he’s going to be faithful. WAKE UP, WOMAN!!! HE DOESN’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU!

Why won’t some women get their head out of their asses?

What if 9/11 never happened?

Huge article in New York magazine in which an “assortment of big thinkers and public figures” were asked “What if 9/11 never happened?” Their answers are as varied as they are, and very interesting. My favorite is Andrew Sullivan’s scenario, written in blog format.

I realize, at 19 pages, it seems like it would take a long time to read, but each page is one answer and many of the answers are quite short. So check it out. It’s really quite interesting. And if you feel so inclined, post your theory on where the world and America would be now if 9/11 hadn’t happened.
