Second opinion

Posted by Gypsy on Aug 24, 2006

I went to see an orthopaedic surgeon today about my hip. He wasn’t much help. Essentially, he said that sometimes back pain is something we have to learn to live with and since there is no nerve damage (yet) there is nothing he can do for me except recommend a permanant profile that would keep me from doing sit-ups and running. Which really sucks as I love to run.

Why can’t they just medically chapter me from the Army and let me get on with my life. At least then I can find a real doctor who can actually help me instead of just giving me Motrin. I just don’t think there is anything normal about being in pain 24/7. It’s just not right and they should be concerned with fixing me, not handing me a profile and some drugs.

Molly:

I am thinking about you. I know this may not help but are you on glucosamine/chondoitin (sp?). It may help your over all joint health.
Hugs!

I’m on so many drugs I don’t even know what they all are anymore.

That really sucks. Are the doctors there not as good as normal doctors or what? Well I hope that you get taken care of and back to norm soon. I have constant back pain from a labor job I worked for a couple of years, but I am scared as hell to go to the doctor because I don’t want to find out that its something serious that requires surgery or anything like that. Brilliant strategy, I know.
