How you like them apples?

Earlier this year, Apple announced the much anticipated iPhone. For a total Mac-geek like myself, the excitement was overwhelming especially since it was about time for me to get a new phone anyway. Then they announced the price. $600. For someone who had no job and barely any savings left, it was way too far out of my budget, so instead I spent the $300 I had saved on a Blackberry Pearl. Figuring Apple would drop the iPhone price in a year or so, at the same time I switched to AT&T so I’d be ready come price-drop time. This was just days before the iPhone was released.
Who would’ve thought the price would drop a mere two months later. Or that it would drop so drastically.
Yep, just this morning, Steve Jobs announced a $200 drop in the price of the iPhone, making it $400. I could’ve easily saved the last $100 I would’ve needed in the last two months. Kicking myself in the ass? Why yes I am.
A bunch of other stuff was also announced this morning, most notably the iPod Touch, which is essentially an iPhone without phone capabilities. It even has wi-fi. So I’m making this announcement: For Christmas and my birthday (a mere three weeks after Christmas), all I want are Apple Store gift cards. Maybe if I get enough I can get one or the other.
Oh yeah, peep here to see what else is new.

I just can’t bring myself to pay more than $100 for a phone… actually every cellphone I’ve ever had has been free… my contract is up with SunCom and I’ve been thinking about switching to another company and upgrading my phone, but I still don’t think I could spend more than $100 bucks on a phone… that’s just me.
It’s pretty tempting to get one now, especially since I already have AT&T, but I think I’ll wait for the second gen. I would definitely want a touch if they had a bigger hard drive, so once again I’ll wait for second gen on those.
I’m wondering how popular the iphone will be over here, because people don’t pay for the phones in the UK, they get them free when they sign up for a plan. I am definitely eyeing either that or the new ipod down the road, though… I’m a mac nerd, too.
Holy shit - I never realized Christina F. was actually voting for Clinton fan. I forever owe you a drink now. Although I am confused; why the hell are you in New York again?
I thought about dropping by to see Scott when I was home, but figured he was too busy working on the book about Kuwait and Iraq.
How’s J. been?
I always wait at least six months before buying any technological “new” thing. The price will drop drastically as the perfection of mass-production equipments will lower the costs as also there is the evolution of technology itself.
When something is brand-new, it is usually expensive. Once the competitors start making a response to this new gizmo, the price wars starts.
And I want to be benefited by the price wars.
