My year in cities (and airports) 2008
Posted by Gypsy on Dec 30, 2008
I tried to do this last year, but completely forgot to keep track and when I went to do it at the end of the year, couldn’t remember everything. So instead, I spent the last year updating this post as I traveled. Off the top of my head, in 2007 I went to New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, London, Edinburgh, Venice (Italy), Red Bank (New Jersey), Brainerd (Minnesota) and Syracuse (New York). I also went to a bunch of new airports on the 36 flights I took to various location.
So that was last year. Now lets take a look at where I went this year:
Cities and places
Brainerd, Minnesota
*Lawton, Oklahoma
*Oklahoma City
San Diego
Las Vegas
New York City
*Charleston, South Carolina
*West Point, New York
*Twenty-Nine Palms, California
Airports
Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
*Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
Rochester International Airport (ROC)
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
*Cleveland Hopkins Airport (CLE)
Ontario International Airport (ONT)
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
McCarran International Airport (LAS)
*Charleston International Airport (CHS)
San Diego International Airport (SAN)
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX)
Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF)
Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
All totaled, I took 43 flights throughout the continental United States. At this point, I would love to never see another airport or airplane interior ever again. So instead I say it’s time for people to start visiting me. Already I have a few people planning to come visit in 2009, but I say the more the merrier.
So who’s comin’ to see me?

You’re catching up to me!
hey, Ill come visit you. when ever is good for you, its good for me ;-) That list seems like you like to travel…..
Okay, now I want you to calculate the number of hours you’ve spent in above listed airports throughout 2008 :). I can imagine that it’d be quite a high number.
I looked at my travels earlier and notched up 6 cities/places visited through 11 airports (inc the London ones I fly in/out of) and 14 flights (though in many cases it only takes me 1 flight to reach a destination unlike the 17 or so it seems to take to just get from anywhere to anywhere else in the US)
Yeah, nearly every trip I took, with the exception of a few, involved at least two flights. Which just plain sucks.
I’d love to repay you the favor this year, that you graced me with twice last year. But, I’m fearful that the banking account is screaming that’s impossible. :( You never know though, so I’m not ruling it out.
