Finally room for dinner guests

As I wrote in my last post, Kelvin gave us a money pot as a wedding gift last year. Since then we’ve been filling it and finally the other night we opened it up and decided to buy a new dining room table with the money. Well, that was Friday and since I’m beyond impatient, first thing Saturday I was dragging Andy to furniture stores. We had planned to hit two, with more to come if I couldn’t find what I wanted. My main features were I wanted one that was in a dark wood, pub height and able to sit 6-8 people for entertaining.
We started at the one on base, hoping we’d get a deal and save a little money since there is no sales tax. Unfortunately it was a bust. Very minimal selection and all of it pretty crappy. On top of that, there wasn’t a sales person to be found if we had a question, so it was off to Jerome’s, which is one of the main furniture stores in San Diego.
We walked in and were immediately greeted by a salesman, who directed us to the dining room furniture (which was necessary as the place is so huge it was hard to figure out where it was). I immediately found two I liked, but decided to browse the whole section just to be sure. A total waste of time as we wound up right back at the first two. Both met all of my requirements, but one ended up being prettier than the other. Even better, we were able to afford the whole set. So now we have a beautiful new dining room table. Collapsed it seats 4-6 people, but with the leaf it can seat 8. The leaf sits right in the middle making it a perfect square, with a lazy susan in the center to make things easier to reach.
Here it is collapsed with four chairs around it. The other four chairs are currently against walls in the dining room, though we are eventually going to find a better place for them.

Dark wood… pub height… sounds familiar. ;)
It’s very pretty. Melikey.
Its a very nice table. I do like the dark wood…i’m a fan of dark wood furniture, though I must say….
1) I love that fact that you say ‘dragged Andy to the stores’…I feel your pain man.
2) I didn’t know ‘pub height’ was an official measuring tool for tables :)
3) isn’t that what girls love best….looking around every option in a store (or 2, 3, 4 stores etc) just to go right back to the first thing they saw and buy it :)
