Why I love October

I assure you it’s not because of Halloween. Halloween is the holiday I hate more than any other and I’d be perfectly happy if everyone stopped celebrating it. It’s not because I’m some Christian fundamentalist, because those people are kinda crazy. I just really don’t enjoy things that are scary. The only really good thing about Halloween is how adorable kids look in their costumes. Otherwise, I’ll pass.

I really love October because there is pink everywhere! Anyone who has been to my house or seen any of the gifts Andy and I got for our wedding is aware that my kitchen color is pink. Partly because I love pink, but mostly because my KitchenAid mixer is pink, so the kitchen has been centered around that. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and pink is the color of Breast Cancer Awareness, the whole world is covered in things that are pink. Even better, the purchase of many of things pink items include donations to various breast cancer research groups.

Why am I telling you all this? Simple. I realize many of you might not be as nuts over pink as I am. That doesn’t mean you can’t do your part to help support breast cancer awareness and research. Just start your Christmas shopping early by buying me anything pink you think my kitchen could possibly need. You’ll be killing two birds with one stone, getting a head start on buying me Christmas presents and helping fund a good cause. And doesn’t that just give you a warm fuzzy?

And just so you realize I’m not just asking you all to shell out, I’ll be sending my usual donations to various organizations as well as buying as much pink stuff as I can afford. October rocks!
